v0.44 Build Notes


So, this was a surprisingly productive week. I pulled on a lot of little threads that had been bothering me, and it feels like the game took several jumps forward in overall usability. 

Playability may be a slightly different matter, as what little balance there is shifted in unexpected ways. I'm going to have to do a pass through the encounters and missions soon so I can straighten out that content and get ready to add new adventures. But here's what's new and/or different this week!

  • Horash's Security cards have been filled out and revised.
  • As part of this, Battle and Fight became subskills of  an overall Tactics skill, a change that's still rippling through the game.
  • Skills that dealt damage used to be a special case; now it fits better in general operation of progress meters.
  • Mission drops now steer away from missions you have received recently. Hopefully that means less asteroid mining.
  • Card text revised with inline graphics for turns, actions, and cards. 
  • Actions also got a new symbol to distinguish them from turns.
  • Sound cues were adjusted and a new song was added.
  • Expanded and animated credits, since all the new music had added a bunch of new people to thank.

Aside from cleanup and balancing, I think the next focus is on the planets and letting mission change their states. It's high time that known space got a little more dynamic...
